History: Santa Bárbara - GDSBS

GDSBS

Santa Bárbara Sistemas has been designing and manufacturing armored vehicles

since the 1920s when it produced Trubia, one of the first one hundred per cent Spanish models.

Since then they have created, manufactured and maintained combat vehicles and systems

with different tactical applications in the different company factories.

The design process is carried out at the Research and Development Center located in

Paracuellos del Jarama (Madrid), which uses the most advanced media,

simulation calculations and testing. The BMR vehicle (currently in service with several armies)

or the Infantry Fighting Vehicle Pizarro, known internationally as ASCOD,

has been produced thanks to these capabilities. Production of components for

armored vehicles takes place in factories in La Coruña, Oviedo and Trubia.

The first two make parts and subsystems, with the highest added value coming from the mechanized process,

while the latter produces large-scale subsystems such as hulls, turrets or gun/weapon systems,

in which welding of structures and mechanized processes are joined together.

Lastly, the final integration and testing of vehicles are carried out at Alcalá de Guadaira,

in Seville, where there are premises for assembling tanks and static and dynamic test facilities.
